For the sixth year in a row, career and technical education programs within Chesterfield County Public Schools again earned recognition in the CTE Creating Excellence Awards presented by the Virginia Department of Education.
A statewide award and two regional awards came home with the CTE team after a June 11 ceremony:
Advisory Committee of the Year for Virginia and for Region 1 and State

The advisory committee for the radiologic technology program at CTC@Courthouse is the top advisory committee in Virginia as well as the top advisory committee in Region 1.
Lisa Beard heads the radiologic technology program and has assembled a roster of industry leaders from Bon Secours, VCU Health, HCA Healthcare, OrthoVirginia and KidMed to serve on the advisory committee.
They meet frequently and extend their engagement into the classroom to observe student skills firsthand, provide industry insight and ensure the curriculum aligns with industry standards.
Business and Industry Partnership Award for Region 1

The Chesterfield County Emergency Communications Center is the top business partner in Region 1. The emergency telecommunications department partners with Chesterfield County Public Schools to offer the first class of its kind in Virginia in emergency telecommunications.
High school seniors learn the daily operations of a 911 center and prepare for a career in emergency communications. Students who successfully complete the training qualify to earn their certification to work as 911 dispatchers.
The partnership addresses regional workforce shortages while building a strong talent pipeline for essential public safety jobs.
