
SOL/W!SE Academy
SOL Academies and W!se Academies are offered in the fall and spring. Students who have questions about their diploma status should contact their school counselor.
SOL Academy is free and open to any student who passed a class in science, social studies, math, reading or writing but did not pass the end-of-course SOL test.
W!se Academy is free and open to any student who passed the economics and personal finance class but did not pass the W!se financial literacy test and needs a career and technical education credential to graduate.
Transportation
Students can get a bus pass from their school counselor to ride the specialty center bus to and from the academy, then be picked up at their home high school. Students who arrive at the academy by car should enter at door 11 at Clover Hill High or door 14 at Bird High.
Testing
Students taking the social studies, science or math SOL will test at their home school on the Friday of the first academy week. Students who pass do not have to attend the second week of the academy. Students who do not pass return to complete the second week and re-test at their home school the Friday of that week.
Students taking WorkKeys reading, WorkKeys writing or W!se will test at the academy on the first Thursday. Students who pass do not have to attend the second week of the academy. Students who do not pass return for the second week and re-test on Thursday.
Registration for fall 2025 sessions
These free academies will take place 3:40-5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at Clover Hill High. The first week will be Dec. 1-4; the second week will be Dec. 8-11. Students who pass their test after the first week do not have to attend the second week. Registration opens Oct. 13 and closes Nov. 24:
Reading (English 11) WorkKeys SOL Academy (Students should attempt the SOL reading test twice before registering for the reading SOL Academy.)
Registration for spring 2026 sessions
These sessions will take place 3:40-5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays at Bird High. The first week will be April 13-16; the second week will be April 20-23. Students who pass their test after the first week do not have to attend the second week. Seniors who do not pass the first or second week will attend a third week April 27-30. Registration opens Feb. 17 and closes March 27:
