SOL/W!SE Academy
SOL Academies and W!se Academies are generally offered in the fall and spring. Students who have questions about their diploma status should contact their school counselor.
SOL Academy is free and open to any student who passed a class but did not pass the corresponding SOL end-of-course test in science, social studies, math, reading or writing.
SOL Academy students taking the social studies, science or math SOL test will be contacted by the testing coordinator at their high school about their testing date and time (these generally take place the Friday after the academy’s last day).
SOL Academy students taking WorkKeys reading or WorkKeys writing will test on the first Thursday of the academy. If they pass, then they are done. Students who do not pass will return the second week and test again on that Thursday.
W!se Academy is free and open to any student who passed the economics and personal finance class and who needs a career and technical education credential to graduate. W!se students will test on the first Thursday of the academy. If they pass, then they are done. Students who do not pass will return the second week and test again on that Thursday.
Transportation
Students with a bus pass from their school counselor may ride the specialty center bus to and from the academy, then be picked up at their home high school. Students who arrive at the academy by car should enter at door 14 at Bird High.
