Careers at Chesterfield County Public Schools

Our mission is bold and our vision is clear

As one of the largest and most innovative school divisions in the nation, Chesterfield County Public Schools is committed to creating a better tomorrow through authentic and captivating learning experiences. With work guided by the values of equity, integrity, teamwork and ingenuity, we believe that a better tomorrow is created one student at a time. Through our strategic plan, Imagine Tomorrow, our focus is to create an infinite learner mindset while encouraging students and staff to exemplify personal responsibility and supportive relationships.

We think our schools are pretty amazing, but we aren’t the only ones. Our award-winning school division – which includes six National Blue Ribbon Schools, seven National Title I Distinguished Schools and six Middle Schools to Watch – is often cited as the reason people choose to live and work here. Educators from outside of our school division routinely visit our nationally-recognized schools to learn more about what we are doing, how we are doing it and why we are doing it. Our outstanding teachers, support staff members and leaders are top-notch educators whom others seek to emulate, and quite simply – we would like for you to consider joining us.

You have a choice to make, and we would like for you to choose Chesterfield.

As a teacher at Falling Creek Middle School, I was empowered to build innovative lessons that directly connected with my students. I was pushed to think outside the box in how I delivered content and in doing so, my confidence reached new heights. Over the past decade, I have moved from a beginning teacher, to teacher and department chair, to dean of students, to assistant principal, to associate principal, and now to principal of Elizabeth Davis Middle School. Over that stretch, I have been impacted by the best and the brightest. I have been pushed to think critically, empathize mightily and lead equitably. I have been given opportunities to grow, and I continue to move forward. Chesterfield County Public Schools has allowed me to lead with my heart, and they have supported me all along the way.

Career Opportunities

Professional Development

The New Teacher Induction Program (NTIP) is hosted by the Office of Professional Learning in Chesterfield County Public Schools. Educators new to the county, their school or the profession participate in school-based programming to acclimate to a new school community and develop skills and strategies aligned with the school’s vision and practices. Further, new educators are assigned a formal mentor, and in this mentoring relationship, they participate in peer observations and collaborative conversations with a veteran educator to continue developing instructional practices while also building collegial relationships within his or her school.

Opportunities and Growth

Chesterfield County Public Schools is committed to creating authentic and captivating learning conditions for members of Team Chesterfield through its Office of Professional Learning. From nurturing new teachers to providing pathways into leadership, we believe the best things happen for our students when the adults in their learning environments are supported.

By aligning high quality programming and structures of support, CCPS is focused on ensuring that pathways exist for all members of Team Chesterfield to maximize engagement while having access to continual learning. From developing professional learning opportunities as a division to partnering with local colleges and universities, our staff members, like our students, have access to authentic and captivating learning experiences.
