The board recognized outstanding teachers of the gifted, visual arts and performing arts.

Board actions
The consent agenda was approved after the nomination of Elke Namola for 2026 VSBA School Board Clerk of the Year Award was removed, then passed in a separate vote. Consent agenda memos included:
Appointment and re-appointment of School Board advisory committee members
School improvement goals for federally identified comprehensive support and improvement schools
The board increased employee bereavement leave, effective July 1, 2027, from up to three days to up to five days.
The board reviewed or revised almost 50 policies. Updates take effect June 30.
The board adopted a new policy allowing limited remote work, which takes effect immediately.
The board made decisions about FY 2026 year-end funds.
Superintendent’s report
The superintendent’s report included a meaningful moments video of highlights from the school year. He also thanked people who spoke in the public comment section of the meeting, congratulated the class of 2026 and all of the PK-12 educators and supporters who contributed to their success, and recognized a fifth grader for her actions during an urgent situation.
