Rising kindergartners and prekindergartners are invited to prepare for the start of school by learning about bus safety and practicing getting on and off a school bus. A partnership among Chesterfield County Public Schools, Chesterfield Police Department and Chesterfield Public Library, My First School Bus is free but requires registration.
Chesterfield County Public Schools families whose children are registered for kindergarten or prekindergarten for the 2026-27 school year are invited to sign up for the most convenient date. Registration opens two weeks before each event:
July 20 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Central Library
July 21 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at Ettrick-Matoaca Library
July 22 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and 5:45-6:45 p.m. at Clover Hill Library
July 23 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at LaPrade Library
July 24 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Meadowdale Library
July 27 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 10:45-11:45 a.m. at North Courthouse Library
July 28 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 10:45-11:45 a.m. at Midlothian Library
July 29 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Perkinson Center for the Arts and Education
July 30 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 10:45-11:45 a.m. at Bon Air Library
July 31 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Enon Library
