Happy FridayCCPS! Today is the last day of classes for schools on our traditional calendar and Bellwood Elementary's last day is June 3. As the final bells ring on the 2025-26 school year, we want to wish everyone a happy and safe summer spending time with friends and family and enjoying your break from regular classes. Whether you graduated or you just finished your first year of kindergarten, we’re proud of your accomplishments and the spirit you bring to CCPS.

Important Dates

  • May 29: Last day of school, 3-hour early dismissal for traditional calendar

  • June 2: Deadline to register for summer classes

  • June 3: Last day of school, 3-hour early dismissal for Bellwood Elementary

  • June 4, 5: Final report cards issued (digital only)

  • June 22: Summer session begins


El Librotazo, the big book party, is scheduled for July 14

Put on your party (and reading) hats for El Librotazo, the Big Book Party! At El Librotazo, every child can choose up to five books to keep for free, forever. There will also be a ton of fun activities and refreshments during the event. Join us from 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14 at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds (10300 Courthouse Road).

There is no cost to attend, take home books, or enjoy fun and food at El Librotazo. Families are asked to register by July 8 for free tickets. We have a limit of 3,500 attendees. Books for all ages will be available in English and Spanish.


Final report cards for 2025-26 school year out next week

The final report cards for 2025-26 are coming next week. Final quarter report cards will be posted to ParentVUE only. They will not be printed and mailed to homes. Parents who want a paper report card may contact their school to have the report card printed out.

Report cards will be posted to ParentVUE on these dates:

  • Thursday, June 4, for every school except Bellwood Elementary and Chester Early Childhood Learning Academy.

  • Friday, June 5, for Bellwood Elementary.


Food and family fun at the Chesterfield Farmers Markets this summer

On Wednesdays, beginning June 3, 2026, the CCPS Food and Nutrition Services team will be serving up food and fun for all families at the Chesterfield Farmers Market (6701 Mimms Loop). Join us from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. each week. Kids under 18 eat free. Adults can purchase a meal for $9. Credit and debit cards accepted. Update student transportation information for 2026-27 school year

The 2025-26 school year is just coming to a close, but transportation planning for the coming school year is already underway. All families are asked to update student transportation information by logging into ParentVUE to choose the way students will travel to and from school and to check your home address and any alternative addresses. Touch-a-Truck at Bensley Elementary

Touch a Truck at Bensley Elementary

Students at Bensley Elementary experienced large vehicles up close at a Touch-a-Truck event. From big rigs to skid steers, the youngsters explored the equipment and learned about the people who operate them. Check out this video to see the truckload of fun they had!


Having a Mindful Memorial Day

For several years, Curtis Elementary has participated in Mindful Memorial Day to honor fallen service members. Mindful Memorial Day incorporates yellow ribbons and cards bearing the names of American service members. Participants in the ceremony speak the names out loud to honor their sacrifice. Teacher Jane Williams leads Mindful Memorial Day at Curtis Elementary, and this year she received special recognition from the Mindful Memorial Foundation for her commitment.

Share your thoughts on technology. Through June 12, parents and guardians are invited to take a survey about the use of technology in schools for policymakers. CCPS will use data from the survey to plan for the future

School Board meeting scheduled for June 2, 2026

The Chesterfield County School Board will hold its regular business meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, in the Chesterfield County Public Meeting Room (10001 Iron Bridge Road, Chesterfield, VA). Visit BoardDocs to see the meeting agenda and more.

Public comment will be accepted during the business meeting. Submit written public comments to the board online or sign up to speak in person by 2 p.m. June 2. The meeting will be broadcast via live stream and on television on Comcast Channel 98 and Verizon Channel 28.

Hidden Harm: The Teen Experience of Opioid Addiction

Opioid addiction affects teens across Virginia. Join the community for a panel discussion featuring author Jarrett J. Krosoczka; Chesterfield Recovery Academy’s Darien Kay; 2 End the Stigma founder Jill Cichowicz; and a recent graduate of Chesterfield's Recovery Academy who will discuss the impact of opioid addiction on themselves and their families. The event is 6-8 p.m. June 5, 2026, at the Midlothian Library (100 Millworks Crossing). Learn more on the library website.
