For several years, Curtis Elementary has participated in Mindful Memorial Day to honor fallen service members. Mindful Memorial Day incorporates yellow ribbons and cards bearing the names of American service members.
Participants in the ceremony speak the names out loud to honor their sacrifice. Teacher Jane Williams leads Mindful Memorial Day at Curtis Elementary, and this year she received special recognition from the Mindful Memorial Foundation for her commitment.
