Awards and recognitions

Recognizing students

Olivia Steeves of Clover Hill High was recognized for winning the Rule of Law essay contest.

 

Recognizing schools

The School Board recognized Swift Creek Middle’s art exhibit at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden; Bird High and James River High for winning state championships in speech; and schools that achieved designation at Heart Safe Schools through Project ADAM.

Board actions

The consent agenda was approved after the 2026-27 employee appointment list memo was removed, then passed in a separate vote. Consent agenda memos included:

 

The board adopted the FY 2027 financial plan and 2027-31 capital improvement plan.

 

The board selected West Ridge High School as the name of the new west area high school, which is scheduled to open in August 2027.

 

The board approved a memo related to funding for fields at Falling Creek Middle.

 

Superintendent’s report

The superintendent’s report included a meaningful moments video about how families can help students continue to learn during summer vacation; information about high school graduations and end-of-year celebrations for Project SEARCH and the Chesterfield Recovery Academy; and reviewed Teacher Appreciation Week joys. He also praised the work of the human resources department regarding hiring and retention rates.
