The Chesterfield Recovery Academy held its fourth completion ceremony May 14, celebrating students who successfully completed the school year and especially lifting up four students who earned their high school diplomas this year.
Since 2022, the Chesterfield Recovery Academy has helped central Virginia students who are recovering from drug addiction. The first recovery high school in Virginia, the program is a collaboration among multiple localities, the commonwealth of Virginia and community partners.

Speakers at the completion ceremony praised students for overcoming difficulties and never giving up. Speakers were Justin Savoy, coordinator of the Chesterfield Recovery Academy; Lisa Hudgins, chair of the Chesterfield County School Board; Kevin Carroll, vice chair of the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors; Dr. Roneet Lev, medical director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy; and Nkechi George-Winkler, chief of staff to Del. Delores McQuinn.

At the Chesterfield Recovery Academy, students receive the academic, emotional and social support necessary to complete their high school education. The program provides flexibility to allow students to participate in internships or hold a job while enrolled. This structured system of support and preparation for the future sets students on a path toward continued success. The academy’s website provides details plus a form for students who are interested in attending.
