Administrative appointments

Megan Rihn-Smith was named principal of Matoaca High, effective July 1. She is currently assistant principal at Patrick Henry High School.

Recognized for their accomplishments were the Monacan High girls swim team and five high school yearbooks.

The board approved the 2026-27 local special education annual plan.

Board discussion

The board received a memo about naming the west area high school, which is scheduled to open in August 2027.

 

Superintendent’s report

The superintendent’s report included a meaningful moments video about mentors at Carver Middle School; an update about state legislation; information about upcoming events; and information about Bellwood Elementary’s transition from a year-round calendar to a traditional calendar for the 2026-27 school year.
