The Chesterfield County School Board met Jan. 6 to elect a 2026 chair and vice chair and schedule meetings for the year.

School Board members are Ann Coker (Bermuda District), Dr. Jenna Darby (Clover Hill District interim), Dominique Chatters (Dale District), Steven Paranto (Matoaca District) and Lisa Hudgins (Midlothian District).

The board elected Lisa Hudgins as chair and Steven Paranto as vice chair.

The School Board approved this 2026 meeting schedule:

  • Budget work sessions will start at 4 p.m. Jan. 22, Feb. 3, Feb. 10 and Feb. 18.

  • A business meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 10 will begin with a public hearing on the FY 2027 budget.

  • A special meeting to adopt the budget will start at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 24.

  • Regular work sessions will start at 4 p.m. and business meetings will start at 6:30 p.m. March 10, April 14, May 12, June 2, Sept. 8, Oct. 13, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8.

  • A summer work session will start at noon Aug. 11, followed by a 6:30 p.m. business meeting.

School Board meetings generally take place in the Public Meeting Room (10001 Iron Bridge Road). Work sessions and business meetings are shown live on Comcast channel 98 and Verizon channel 28, livestreamed here and curated on the school system’s YouTube channel.

The Chesterfield County School Board is the governing body of Chesterfield County Public Schools, central Virginia's largest school system. Each School Board member represents one of the county’s five magisterial districts. Members are elected to four-year terms; the current terms continue through Dec. 31, 2027.

Jan. 6 was the first meeting for Dr. Darby, who joined the School Board as interim representative of the Clover Hill District. Her appointment will continue until a special election can take place to elect a representative for the remainder of the term. The date for that special election is not yet set.
