Two students from every Chesterfield County high school make up the inaugural class of the Play Chesterfield Scholar Athlete Program, which is a collaborative effort by Chesterfield County, Chesterfield County Public Schools and CBS 6 (WTVR-TV). High schools selected student-athletes based on their academic excellence, athletic performance, leadership, sportsmanship, community involvement and character development.

The 22 students will be featured two at a time on CBS 6, starting the week of Jan. 11 and continuing weekly. Each honoree will receive a $500 scholarship. At an April 17 banquet for the Chesterfield Sports Hall of Fame, one female student and one male student will be named Scholar Athletes of the Year, receive $1,000 scholarships and have their names inscribed in the Chesterfield Sports Hall of Fame at the River City Sportsplex. Visit PlayChesterfield.com for more information or to buy tickets to the banquet.
