Davis Elementary celebrates new house system

students in Ignis house

Davis Elementary now has five houses designed to strengthen community and school spirit. After moving into its new building at the start of the school year, Davis Elementary held house sorting day on Sept. 10.

Students discovered where they belong by scratching cards to reveal one of these five houses:

  • Amizade, the house of friendship symbolized by an elephant.

  • Dadiva, the house of generosity, symbolized by a jaguar.

  • Ignis, the house of curiosity, symbolized by a fox.

  • Seren, the house of compassion, symbolized by a reindeer.

  • Vivo, the house of vibrancy, symbolized by a peacock.

This is the beginning of an incredible journey for Davis Elementary. Five houses, one family — ready to build something amazing together!

Free online tutoring available to students in grades 3-12

K-12 Tutoring (formerly Stride) is now available to all students in grades 3-12. As in previous years, students will access K-12 Tutoring via their Clever backpack, and they may self-schedule sessions for as long as funding is available.

At the elementary level, parents and guardians may book sessions on behalf of their student. Students must attend scheduled sessions. Non-attendance scheduled sessions will result in the student's removal from the platform. Students may cancel scheduled sessions in the K-12 platform up to 12 hours prior to the start time. More information can be found at oneccps.org/tutors.

Parenting is tough and children don’t come with an owner's manual. So, grab a cup of coffee and get some friendly support each week with Coffee & Conversation. We’ll have a topical discussion with community experts to help understand and foster success in your students.

Join us online at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8 for a discussion about building motivation and responsibility in your children. Learn the real reason kids don't listen (it's not what you think!) and how to handle their lack of cooperation effectively and respectfully. Special guest is Rachel Bailey, parenting specialist and former therapist. Sign-up to attend here.

Free telehealth sessions available to support mental health for students in grades 6-12

To support students and families, Chesterfield County Public Schools offers a connection to free mental health telehealth services for students in grades 6-12. Offered through Hazel Health, the telehealth program is free for students in grades 6-12 whose parents opt in to the opportunity. Participation is optional and requires parent/guardian consent via ParentVUE.

This resource can help students with anxiety, depression, stress, grief, social skills, bullying, and more. It is important to note that Hazel Health does not replace emergency services.

Families are able to schedule telehealth sessions that occur at home on weekdays during the afternoon and early evening. Sessions will not take place at school.

How can parents schedule telehealth appointments for their child?

This simple process is how to get telehealth support for your child:

  • First, sign in to ParentVUE in order to opt in to Hazel Health. After you opt in, then Chesterfield County Public Schools will share your information with Hazel Health (usually this happens within one business day). Here are instructions in English and Spanish to use ParentVUE to opt in.

  • Next, go to this Hazel Health page to create an account and complete the online consent.

  • Finally, schedule an enrollment call and your child’s first appointment with Hazel Health.

For more information, visit oneccps.org/mental-health-support.
